Chicken Coop Delivery

Our new chicken coop is here! We happen to live very close to a company that makes and sells yard sheds, animal shelter and chicken coops. After comparing prices, we found that one of their coops, with free delivery in a 30-mile radius, was the best deal for a pre-made hen house in the size we needed.

chicken coop for egg laying chickensThe coop is large enough for 20-24 hens to comfortably roost at night and have room to lay (there are 8 built-in laying boxes).

It has a people-sized door on one end and chicken door and ramp on the other. Two windows on the front and a vent on the back will ensure enough fresh air for the hens when they get older.

For now, though, we’ll use the coop to brood our baby chicks and of course keep it closed up for warmth. Chicken coop arrives on a truck.

The chicks are scheduled to arrive at the post office in town today; a mix of brown egg layers and our Easter Egg chickens, and I’ll post pics of the day-old chicks when they arrive as well as frequent updates as we brood them through the winter.

If you are looking for a pre-built coop, be sure to compare the prices at EarthWave Living with whatever is available locally to you. If we lived closer to their warehouse, it would have been cheaper for us to buy from this company; our long distance made for some staggering shipment prices.

Like EarthWave Living’s coops, our is made from solid wood and Amish constructed. It is sturdy, made of excellent materials, and a great value for our money.

Have you bought pre-built chicken housing? Were you satisfied with the quality?
